COMMUNICATION

Three variants of chat position on the page

Depending on your needs, your Facebook Chat can appear as an expandable bubble – floating or fixed in a certain place – or as an embed chat window. Floating bubble can be aligned center, left, or right. It will follow when visitors scroll the page and stay visible. Embed chat window can be placed into the content area, for example on a product page to help visitor place an order.

Choosing your target audience

Our widget can be set to appear only for a specific category of your visitors. There are three variants: all visitors, new visitors, and returning visitors. For example, you may want to restrict the display of the chat to returning category only, to help these people find what they failed to during the first visit. Alternatively, you can try to engage as many new visitors as possible. Each case is special.

Displaying the chat where it works best

Elfsight Facebook Chat may not necessarily be embedded on each and every page of your site. If you only need it on just several pages – it’s easy to do, just choose Specific Pages option and enter the URLs of the selected pages. Excluded Pages variant will help restrict displaying on selected pages of the site. Showing chat on mobile is also optional, if you think it interferes with smooth experience, you can cancel it.

Setting a chat-opening trigger

Your Facebook Chat may become a instrument of attracting customers and increasing the level of interactions. If you choose one of the open-chart triggers, the chat window will automatically open and invite a visitor to cooperate. As a trigger, you may choose specific time spent on your site or on a certain page, reaching a particular scroll position, or an intent of a user to leave your page. Just add a relevant text message for each case and a chat will pop up and do the job!

Tip: Using exit intent as a chat-opening trigger will help you prevent people from leaving your page too soon. You may offer assistance in the welcome message to help people find what they are looking for.

Vary icon and text of chat bubble

Chat bubble is the element that users see first and associate with communication. Choosing the right bubble icon may help reflect the main purpose of your chat: customer support, order placing, hotel booking, and so on. We offer a library of icons for different cases, so you can choose the most suitable. And bubble text field is here to show your custom message next to the icon.

Customizable chat header

There are plenty of elements of the chat header that you can vary depending on your purposes. The picture may be your Facebook page photo, or you can choose it from our library or upload your own. You can add the name of the chat and choose a caption. The latter offers five variants of reply time, saying when users should expect an answer, or a field for your custom caption text. It supports font and weight options, lists, links, and more.

A welcome message and chat start button

Welcome message is the first one your clients see when they open the chat window. It serves to help them start conversation, offers help, or addresses any other clients’ needs. In the welcome message field you can add text and use fonts and weigh options, align variants, lists and links. Start Chat button can also include your custom text and you can show or hide Facebook messenger icon on it. Also, try various buttons shapes – from square to more rounded.

Add notifications to attract attention

There’s an additional way to attract users’ attention to your chat. You can add a notification badge to the chat bubble, which will show an unread message and make people curious to open the chat. There’s also an option to add a notification to the title of the tab, it will appear when a start-chat trigger has worked.

Tip: Notifications can help start a conversation. Seeing an unread message, users get curious and start interacting with the chat.

Color the interface to your taste

You know what colors you need to create the most color-matched chat window for your website. So go ahead and paint elements of the interface yourself. You can choose colors for bubble background and icon, header background, and button.
