Ways to add video to Webflow
- Use the Video element for YouTube or Vimeo
Drag a Video element onto the page and paste a YouTube or Vimeo URL.
- Use a Background Video for hosted files
Drag a Background Video element and upload an MP4 (short, muted loops work best).
- Use Code Embed for everything else
Drag a Code Embed element and paste an iframe or widget code. Code Embed requires a paid site or workspace plan.
Play video on hover and other interactions
Webflow interactions can play or pause an HTML5 video on hover by targeting a video inside a Code Embed. It works, but it’s custom code to maintain.
A video player or gallery without custom code
Use Player with Gallery or a Video Carousel inside a Code Embed — YouTube, Vimeo and hosted videos.
Try Elfsight Video Gallery →Add a video gallery to Webflow with Elfsight
- Open the Designer
In the Webflow dashboard hover over the site and click Open in Webflow.
- Add a Code Embed
Click +, find Code Embed and drag it where the gallery should appear.
- Paste and publish
Paste the installation code, click Save & Close, then Publish → Publish to Selected Domains.
Good to know: the widget isn’t visible inside the Designer — check it in Preview (with custom code enabled) or on the published site. Code Embed needs a paid Site plan or paid Workspace plan; free Starter plans don’t allow custom code.
