Facebook Limits (groups, friends, invites etc) and Account Blocks

Share
Below is the current bans and limits info to help promote your Facebook account and bypass blockings. The data is based on personal observations and experiments conducted by people who work in this field.

Actions restrictions

  • Mass follow limit: the account gets banned after 500+ follows in 24 hours, and it will require providing an ID to unblock it;
  • Request acceptance limit: no more than 1500 in 24 hours;
  • Adding friends to group limit: no more than 600 in 24 hours;
  • Adding friends to group limit (for the group): no limit;
  • Adding friends to page limit: 2500-3000 in 24 hours;
  • Adding friends to page limit (for the page): 10 000 in 24 hours;
  • Joining a group/page limit: 25 in 24 hours.
  • Likes limits: 5000 in 24 hours;
  • Messages limits: 150 at time.

All Facebook limits are floating, and different accounts will get different numbers. So increase the number of actions gradually, until you notice the first signs of a pending ban.

Facebook Bans

Keep an eye on the following metrics to bypass the restrictions:

  • Checkpoint for adding friends: 30-60 minutes;
  • Limits to inviting friends to your page: 12-24 hours;
  • Limits to inviting friends to a page (for the page): 24-48 hours;
  • Limits to inviting friends to a group: 12 hours (block time increases when restrictions are exceeded);
  • Ban for joining groups/pages: 2 weeks;
  • Posting limits: first ban: 24 hours, second ban: 3 days, third time: week.
    *This refers to all the communities that are related to founder’s account. For example, if you’ve been banned in group A, you can’t publish anything in group B, too.

The listed bans are for the first violation, in case of repeated offenses block times will be prolonged.

IP address restrictions and bans

  • Simultaneous accounts limit: 10 accounts for one IP;
  • IP-address blocking: 24-72 hours.

New account recommendations

New accounts need to strictly observe all the actions limits. The best you can do with a new account is to leave off active promotion of the account for a time, and allow them to get trusted by filling up the account and publishing posts.

You need to be careful about how you start the promotion, and stick to the action plan. Here’s an example:

  • First 1-2 weeks of active promotion: 10-20 subscriptions in 24 hours;
  • Next 1-2 weeks: increase subscriptions by 10-30 every week;
  • This tactic will allow you to start the second month with 50-60 subscriptions every 24 hours;
  • Stick to this number for a month, and if it doesn’t get the account banned, gradually increase the number to the desired 400-500 subscriptions every 24 hours;

Keep in mind that of late new accounts get banned very quickly, and you have to take it slow if you want to use them for a long time. Holding an account back for a period of several months and up to one year yields the best results.

Getting your account blocked on Facebook

Facebook has the following policy on its users communication: it aims to connect large amounts of people who meet, or are likely to meet in real life, but contacts between people from different regions or countries are not encouraged. On top of this, consider the increasingly restrictive actions to prevent spam and inappropriate content and you have the Facebook ban algorithm.

Frequent reasons for banning personal accounts:

  • Fake name and picture;
  • False bio information;
  • Spam;
  • Using one and the same text in newsletters;
  • Inappropriate or offensive content;
  • Changing email or password (fraudulent actions);
  • Using several accounts.

Frequent reasons for blocking commercial accounts:

  • Payment information from one country, while you reside in another;
  • You logged in to Ads Manager via proxy;
  • You haven’t advertised anything for a time, and then you started advertising a lot;
  • You’ve created lots of ads in a very short time (this can get you banned);
  • You’ve created a large number of rejected ads in a short period of time;
  • Facebook’s blocked the Ads Manager, and you set up a new one.
In most cases your ID is required to remove the ban, so it is better to get an old account unblocked, rather than create news accounts, as the latter can evoke additional sanctions.

How to get an account unblocked

In most cases the moderators block the access to an account for a time, the duration of which depends on the violation frequency: from several hours to a week for new accounts, and up to a month for regular offenders. So the first option is to leave the account for a time, and start working with other ones.

You should also keep in mind that Facebook doesn’t like unblocking accounts until the blocking time is over, but you can try to contact support, as there’s a chance that they will help you lift the block.

Besides, there are some specific ways to bypass the block: you can publish posts in Instagram via a mobile app. This way you can publish images.

Conclusion

The limits are not exact not only because Facebook keeps changing them, but also because they’re calculated on an individual basis. You shouldn’t rely too much on these numbers, as they’re just a milestone to set your own restrictions.

It is very easy to get banned, and it might be very difficult to have a ban lifted. So try to use the white hat promotion methods wherever possible.

    Best solution is to make a new account and delete the old.

    • QuarksBar

      Won’t really work if you are using the same IP address.

      • Steven

        You can make the new account from a free WiFi such as a fast food place or even Walmart. That will give you a different ip.

          That doesn’t work either. I’ve tried. And tried from different devices. And tried with vpns. I’ve probably wasted too much time on a site that’s no longer worth it. I seem to care more about it than they do. Think it’s time to call for the internet to just shut down Facebook. Time for the world to move on. We might get along better without it.

          • Mandy White

            I just want to know what in the hell the suspicious activity is they keep finding on my account. I’d sleep better at night knowing that much.

          • Hey Mandy,

            Suspicious activity means that Facebook believes that you’re a bot or a spammer. Your actions are too different from the habitual Facebook user activity, and this makes you stand out and makes you suspicious.

            Check our reply to your message above to find out how to protect your account.

            Best of luck,
            Elfsight

        • Hi Steven,

          In this case, you’ll have to go to Wallmart every time you need to access your page in order not to get blocked 🙂

          The better option in cases your IP has been deprecated or if you need to set up multiple accounts, would be to purchase a clean ipv4 proxy.

          Also, as Facebook uses such techniques as canvas and WebGL to create a fingerprint, make sure that your browser settings and screen resolution are unique for every account you’ve created. (This applies to really complicated cases of Facebook promotion).

          We hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions, we’ll be happy to help!

          Regards,

    There really needs to be an alternative to FB. It has become exactly like Craigslist. Banned for no reason, no actual person to communicate with for appeal. Appeal process is just automated and a bone thrown out to make you think there is a process. NO ONE actually reads your appeals. I posed an ad as a vendor for parties in a group for vendors posting about their businesses for parties and they blocked me and said it violated their community standards. FB has become a joke.

      The same happening with me and Facebook Is Not Providing support as user

      • Hey Akash,

        Facebook actually does provide support for its users. Please, use the recommendations we’ve posted above, it should help you get a much quicker response.

        Reviewing times depend on your region, but 20 days is a lot for any region, so you can start contacting them again.

        Regards, Elfsight

    • Akash Pareek

      My Facebook account is Blocked more then 20 days and Facebook Does not provide any solution or proper support, already given photo and Identity as asked by Facebook but still it show we will get in touch with you after reviewing it, I want to know how many days Facebook will take to review this.

    • Hey guys,

      We totally understand how upsetting it is to get blocked. Here are some practical tips to make sure you reach an actual person in Facebook support:

      1. You need to contact in English, because when you write in any other language, it appears that the message is of lower priority.

      2. Also, you can’t resend your message even if you haven’t received a response, because this will throw your appeal back to the very beginning of the cycle.

      3. And if you’re persevering enough to stand 3 or 4 message exchanges with a robot, an actual person usually comes into play.

      We really hope this will be of use!

  • Dorna Kesh

    Facebook said I was “adding too quickly” and this has happened three times now, so shouldn’t my block last a week from where it started?

    • Hello Dorna Kesh,

      It’s hard to answer this. We believe that the best course of action for you would be to contact Facebook support about this, and prove that you’re an actual person, and not a bot.

      Regards,
      Elfsight

  • The Flustercook

    I’ve had a week long ban from groups twice in consecutive weeks….I’ve been posting reviews for over a year and now I get banned…..makes absolutely no sense at all.

    • Hey The Flustercook,

      This might be a groupmoderation thing. Have you ever tried to take it up with the groups’ moderators, to make sure they’re not the ones banning you?

      Regards,
      Elfsight

    FB also bans by device number. I have 3 devices I can’t make an account from and if I log into an account FB disables them. There’s no going back from this sort of ban.

    • Andrey Kozinskiy

      What you can do is try to get a clean phone number or use a temporary phone number to pass verification. If Facebook doesn’t pass the devices, you could try to uniqualize them. Does this work ok from a PC?

  • Mandy White

    Is Facebook TRYING to loose people? I keep getting logged out for suspicious activity. Absolutely no help from them.

    • Hi there Mandy,

      Suspicious activity means that your account is not trusted enough. For example, if you’ve just registered an account and start sending out lots of messages and friend requests or publish ads right away. This might get your account blocked for suspicious activity.

      Account farming will help you raise the trust. This trick comes from traffic arbitrage, but it works for any purpose, from promoting a small business to promoting your own page on Facebook. You’re welcome to read more about farming and use it to make your account safe!

      We hope this will come in handy!

  • My band page was unpublished by Facebook without warning. I sent an appeal and 3 days later got rejected. I never post anything since my band has been on hiatus for more than 2 years, let alone violating their rules. Guess I’m not the only one.

    • Hey Berly Tannyono Putra,

      Actually, if your group page hasn’t been active for over 2 years, Facebook might have viewed your page as abandoned, maybe that could be the reason?

      However, if you haven’t carried on any doubtful activity, we’re sure that resending your appeal a couple more times will help!

  • Thanos Argyris

    Greetings
    Fb deleted my fb profile that was almost 10 years old with no apparent reason.
    I couldn’t even post an appeal because the mail that i had linked my fb account is way too old and i’ve lost the password.
    Ok that’s my fault so i did not had a choice than make another one.
    I made a new one, with the same name as my old one.
    I also added the nickname i have as an artist so the name that appeared in my new profile was “Thanos Priest Argyris”.
    My real name is Athanasios Argyris.
    I started sending requests to my friends, relatives & partners and to most of them i send them the same message copy pasted as it is pain in the ass to try and explain to hundreds of your people what really happened.
    Most of the accepted me, everything seemed to work ok for some days and today fb deleted this account too.
    I have sent an appeal attaching my passport and facebook replied to me with an automated message that this is not a valid document and i need to re upload a valid one.
    I uploaded my id explaining to them that priest is my nickname as an artist and i can remove it if they wish and Thanos is a dimunitive for Athanasios.
    Still waiting gor a reply but i dont think i will be able to get it back.
    What can i do? Please help me.
    Does that means that i can’t use fb anymore? That if i make a new profile it will be deleted too?
    Sorry for the long post but im too stressed with this situation

    • Dear Athanasios,

      Please, accept our apologies for the delay in getting back to you!

      We can totally relate to your stress and frustration about this situation, it is indeed extremely nerve-wrecking!

      Automatic messages are not the end of it. You need to keep trying to reach the support, until you get a real person. In this case we’re sure you’ll get the help you need.

      Regards, Elfsight

  • Paul D

    It’s true. There is NO customer service at all. Facebook is truly a New World Order/NWO-style globalist organization run by liberals. I’ve threatened them NUMEROUS times, and I still never got a response to them. If they’re not careful, somebody will go to the Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA and wreak utter chaos.

    • Dear Paul,

      We realize your frustration, but we’re sure that this was just a sentiment of the moment. Our team are convinced that violence and threats are not a way to resolve disputes.

      Regards, Elfsight

  • Abdul Bari Butt

    These numbers still correct?I mean me and my friends add 300 friends each from 3 accounts it will be banned for adding more than 600 people in 24 hours or work because they are from different accounts?

    • Hello Abdul,
      It’s a shame to admit, but the numbers you mean are outdated. To avoid being banned by Facebook, it might be useful to increase the limits gradually, starting from small amounts.However, we do not quite understand what you mean by mentioning that you add friends “from different accounts”. Could you please specify this and we will try to advise.
      Thank you!

      Regards,
      Elfsight

  • Loretta VanWinkle

    “You’ve been temporarily blocked from using this feature” …. Twice in the last 3 days!! I haven’t posted, commented, etc (I’ve ONLY ACCEPTED Friend Request that came to me). Took my time excepting them because i’ts been almost 600 in the past week!! I can login to FB see the Newsfeed and Messages, but when I try to go to my profile that message appears and it’s been blocked for almost 17 hours!! I have been on FB for 7 1/2 years and I’ve never been banned!! I’ve contacted them through support and not any reply,,,, So it’s discouraging after building a 4,000 friend list to start dealing with this every time I start excepting friends!! (TRYING TO SEARCH) also brings the message from them!! They’ve not even told me what I did,,,,, as I said, (EXCEPTING FRIENDS) brings the block!! HELP:)

    • Andrey Kozinskiy

      Hello Loretta
      This is very disappointing indeed. To solve the issue, you can’t do anything better than just to address Facebook support. But try to get in touch with a real person, to avoid getting standard automatic answers. Hopefully, it will help you.

    • Hi Jayson!
      This is a really terrible story! That is indeed very frustrating to get blocked for no reason and loose a lot of content! But don’t let it make you depressed. You should keep on trying. Address Facebook support once more and try to contact a real person on that matter. Don’t refresh your previous address, because it will bring you down the list, but simply wait for an answer.
      We hope that all your troubles will be solved!

      Regards,

  • JPDL

    I think either facebook’s algorythms don’t like me or someone is stalking me and mass reporting me as I at the beggining of the year consecutively blocked for 3 days and 7 days and then a month or two ago my account got suspended due to suspicious activity and I only got it back (without response from them though) when I complained on better business bureau (I am not from america though) and now out of nowhere they blocked me for 30 days 5 days ago and whenever I try to send the appeal facebook gives an error message saying they can’t process that request at the moment. it’s really weird… I am afraid that now they will dig through my account and try to shut me down for good. I imagine that after the 30 days block the next infraction grants me a permanent ban or something right?

  • Amanda Hull

    I’m at my wits end with Facebook. My account has been locked for almost a week now due to suspicion of phishing. I have tried every freakin way to get back one.i it. Verified my recent messages, comments, identified my friends by their pics, changed password, and nothing works. .. it was taking me through at least those things listed above but now it wont even go into verification. Just loops itself back to the message saying i need to verify my account. I’m about to go office space on my computer and RIP all my hair out I’m so frustrated. There’s zero customer support going on…i cannot for the life of me get a hold of a real person to explain this to. I have an ecommerce clothing store and sell a lot thru the marketplace and groups. This has been detrimental to my sales and in turn my ability to feed my family. I NEED HELP NOW!!!!
